There is no doubt that Lisa Murkowski is a fine person and respected senator and served our Republican party well. But well-respected people have lost elections since the beginning of democracy, and when they do, they concede.
As have so many before her, Murkowski needs to graciously concede the race, withdraw her name from the ill-counseled write-in campaign and support the man she lost to — Joe Miller — as nominee of her party.
Lisa, please, do the honorable thing. Your reputation is at stake. You can’t say this is “for Alaska” or that “outsiders” won the primary.
Have you forgotten that only registered Alaskan Republicans can vote in the primary? There is not a crossover vote.
So please, maintain your dignity so we can all gratefully remember your legacy. Concede, withdraw, and support the man your party chose in the primary: Joe Miller. It is never too late to do the honorable thing.
