Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

The Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry is hosting a celebration throughout the month of December, highlighted by several displays and craft fairs.
On every weekend from now through Christmas, the museum is hosting a historic Christmas bazaar, a toy and model train show and exhibits. Every Saturday, the hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and every Sunday the hours are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
This weekend, artist Terry Jo Hedman will be at the museum on Saturday. There will also be several model trains, sled dog rides and a patchwork quilt raffle.
On Dec. 6 there will be a Scottish dance performance. The Alaska Last Frontier Woodcarvers will be doing a demonstration both days, and there will be a raffle for Stihl and Poulan chainsaws. The same
On De. 13 and 14, there will be collections of toys , the toy and model train show and sled dog rides. On Dec. 20 and 21, the woodcarvers will be back, the Carpet Farmers will be at the museum and there will be a drawing for a framed Sydney Laurence print, a John Deere train and a hand-crocheted doll.

Nov. 28-30
Colony High School Bazaar, largest bazaar of the holiday season in the Valley, with more than 175 vendors. Food, child care, concessions and door prizes offered. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 29 only. Money raised helps CHS. Call Dave Rose or Gena Graham at 746-4204.
Dec. 5-7
VHA Holiday Craft Fair, by Valley Hospital. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the hospital. VHA staff and volunteers will have a wide variety of items for sale. Call Cathy Smith at 746-8781.
Willow United Methodist Church Bazaar, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 6 at the church, located at Mile 67.5 Parks Hwy. Cookie walk, soup and fresh bread offered. Call Phyllis at 495-6436.
Dec. 13
Colony Christmas, art and craft sales, Dec. 12 and Dec. 13, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Palmer. Shows are part of the community celebration.
Palmer Community School Advisory & Facility Use Christmas Bazaar, Palmer Junior Middle School, Dec. 13, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Santa Claus will be there, 75 tables with a variety of gods. Call Susan at 376-0831.
