MAT-SU - The Museum of Alaska Transportation & Industry is calling all classic car fans to its annual Transportation Expo, which, this year, features the Classic Car Club of America.

Membership for the club numbers more than 5,600 worldwide and is headquartered in Des Plaines, Ill. Local CCCA branches, however, are located throughout the country in many places where classic cars are celebrated.

Each year, the CCCA club members gather to form a CARavan across the nation. This year they decided to head north.

The all-day event takes place Sunday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Cars on display will include a range of fine or unusual motor cars that were built between 1925 and 1948. Aficionados believe cars built during those years have fine design, high engineering standards and superior workmanship.

This year's CARavan includes an Auburn, Bentley, Packard, Rolls Royce, Pierce-Arrow, BMW and many other vehicles.

Raffle tickets will be available at the event to win rides around Wasilla in one of the vintage cars.

In addition to the visit from the CCCA, car clubs from across central Alaska have been invited to attend. Admission is $8.50, except for museum members, who get in for free.
