Musicians, actors also deserve recognition

To the editor:

I am a junior attending Palmer High School and I was happy to read about the recognition given to the outstanding varsity student-athletes in the Mat-Su Valley in the Sunday paper. However, I was disappointed to find that there was no recognition given to those high school seniors who have participated and lettered in music and theater while upholding outstanding grade point averages.

These activities are just as competitive and require just as much concentration and dedication. It takes a lot of courage to stand up in front of a crowd and perform, and the stress level is at an extreme when continuously going through competitions and productions.

I ask that next time, you please recognize and award honors to these beautifully minded students.
