WASILLA -- Teams have their good days and their bad days.
Unfortunately for Colony, the Knights' bad day fell on a good day for the Chugiak Mustangs.
In their first action after the winter break, the Knights fell to the Mustangs 12-2 Wednesday at the Brett Ice Arena.
Chugiak was able to score early and often. The Mustangs tallied five goals in the first period, including a goal on their first shot of the game.
Shane Wheeler tipped in a Jacob Thompson pass past Colony netminder Alan Markus to give Chugiak an almost immediate 1-0 lead.
Chugiak scored just more than a minute later as Beau Willert tapped in a rebound past Markus.
Colony was able to get on the scoreboard midway through the first period. Chris Arentz took a pass from Matt Luthi and slid the puck past Chugiak goaltender Sean Hoffbeck. The Arentz goal cut the score to 2-1, but it would be the closest Colony would get to the stampeding Mustangs.
Ryan Pauling added a power play goal for Colony late in the second period. Just seconds after a Chugiak roughing penalty, Arentz cycled the puck to Pauling who slapped it in from the point.
