I hesitate to even begin to list all the individuals, community churches, civic groups and businesses that have contributed so much to the MY House organization.
The reason is the list goes back three years with the conception of the idea of having a place for our homeless youth, then the construction this summer of the Gathering Place and Gathering Grounds Café, and most recently, the addition of our drive-thru window.
In short, I am afraid I might omit someone — a church, civic group or business that has stepped up for our homeless youth.
Frankly, you all have been extremely gracious beyond words. It has been amazing to see it happen firsthand and watch it evolve. We could not have pulled this off without this awesome community. There are days at the Gathering Place filled with homeless youth looking for a better way. They are beginning to understand we are a hand up, not a hand out. That makes them feel better about themselves as they work toward self-sufficiency. They are feeling their own worth.
We are excited and encouraged to continue the good fight for these homeless youth. They are our kids and worth our efforts. And, we could not have done this or stay the course without this incredible community. A very heartfelt thank you.
