Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Myrna Lois Anderson, 79, died at home in Wasilla, of natural causes, on Dec. 16, 2005. The family will have a memorial celebration of her life in early June.
She was born March 27, 1926, in Great Falls, Mont. She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Montana State College in Bozeman, Mont.
She came to Alaska in 1972, and had resided and worked in Anchorage, Sitka, Kotzebue and Wasilla.
She was a member of the Lutheran church. Her hobbies and special interests were her great-grandchildren, exploring outdoors, fishing and crafts, especially quilts and afghans.
Her family wrote, “Myrna was a strong, independent and adventurous woman. She was loved, cherished and respected by everyone she met and has left her family grieving but with wonderful memories of a full, happy life.”
Survivors are her daughters, Kristi Appelhans of Huntington Beach, Calif., Laura Nielsen of Wasilla, and Barbara Ramey of Lemmon, S.D.; son, David Applehans of Wasilla; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Floyd Kodalen of Great Falls, Mont., and Gary Kodalen of Minnesota, and a sister, Phyllis Buhmann of Zurich, Mont.
