A national songwriter is teaming up with a local musician at Vagabond Blues tonight for some down-home folk music.
Time Easton has garnered national attention for his honest look at regular people through his songwriting.
His music blends folk, bluegrass, country and rock, for an eclectic finished product that many reviewers have found to be entertaining and enjoyable.
Easton has played internationally, and has been featured in numerous publications, including Rolling Stone magazine.
"Easton shines in his ability to make himself an every man, following in the footsteps of a long line of great folk storytellers. His ability to combine the old and the new is deft, and his choice of musical tone to complement the emotional energy of his lyrics is outstanding," the Independent Review commented about Easton's music. "His musical style is very diverse, it's like an amazing food dish where you sense a hint of this and a hint of that but the end result is so individual that it's hard to say what you're tasting, you just know it's good."
Easton will be playing at Vagabond Blues with Evan Phillips, who released, "Chickaloon" last year.
Phillips is a local musician who is part of the Whipsaws, which plays around the state each weekend. Phillips' style has been described as everything from country-fused rock to hard-driving blues, although the Whipsaws are known for their "twang."
Tickets are $12 for the concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at Vagabond Blues.
