PALMER ¬— Former Seattle SuperSonics great Gary Payton leads a list of professional basketball standouts appearing at a celebrity charity basketball game Saturday at 2 p.m. at Palmer High School.
Payton — a past NBA Defensive Player of the Year and nine-time All-Star who played with Seattle, Milwaukee, Boston, Miami and the Los Angeles Lakers — will be featured in the game, billed as the 18th annual NBA alumni, former SuperSonics and former Harlem Globetrotters legends charity game.
Palmer volunteer firefighters will also participate in the event, which benefits the Palmer volunteer firefighters.
Joining Payton on the court will be former NBA All-Stars Shawn Kemp and Dale Ellis.
Kemp was a six-time all-star during his 14-year career in the league. In addition to his eight years with the Sonics, Kemp also played in Cleveland, Portland and Orlando.
Ellis, a 1989 all-star, at one time held the SuperSonics single-season franchise scoring record, a mark since broken by Kevin Durant.
Former Harlem Globetrotter Otis Key will also hit the court Saturday.
Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the gate, and will admit one adult or two children under 16 years old. Tickets are available at all local locations of Tesoro To Go, Kaladi Brothers Coffee, Blockbuster Video and Three Bears.
