WASILLA — Amber Stull was the top overall finisher during the Why Not Tri triathlon, Saturday in Wasilla.
Stull finished the course in 52 minutes and 14 seconds. She was nearly four minutes faster than the women’s runner-up, Alisa Kincaid, and also beat the top male in the event. Dave Whitfield placed first in the men’s individual standings, finishing 20 seconds behind Stull.
Justin Neff (55:08) was second in the men’s class.
Adrianna Proffitt won the girls’ kids race, finishing with a time of 27:51.Ian Millard won the boys’ kids race, with a mark of 27:38.
The Raging Tower Flowers were the top team in the race, with a combined time of 1:00:57. Raging Tower Flowers finished five minutes ahead of the runner-up, Kung Pao Chicken.
The 4-year-old Why Not Tri features a 400-meter swim in the Wasilla Pool, a 9.25-mile bike ride and 3-mile run. The race course includes Bogard Road, Wasilla-Fishhook and Seldon Road.
Nearly 350 partcipated in the event.
