Neighbors are people, not corporations

To the editor:

No one is above the law — no one.

If Usibelli has been operating without a valid permit for almost 20 years, it deserves to face a lawsuit by residents willing to protect themselves. I have no faith that the state of Alaska has the people’s best interests in mind because the state is part of a system that relies on handshakes and private promises to make decisions that profit a handful of people.

Shame on Usibelli if it is found at fault! Maybe folks around the Valley will finally recognize that good neighbors are the people we live, work and rely on every day, not a rich corporation that has never even lived here.
