Neuman works for natural resources

To the editor:

The Wasilla Soil & Water Conservation District wishes to thank Rep. Mark Neuman for his faithful support of Alaska conservation districts.

Twelve conservation districts throughout the state promote wise use of natural resources, including protection of salmon habitat, through projects such as stream bank revegetation, culvert replacements and water quality monitoring. The recent national award presented to the Wasilla District for “Outreach and Educational Achievement in Support of Fish Habitat Conservation” is testament to the success of conservation districts in this area.

Installation of rain gardens at local schools, weed pulls to promote weed-free school grounds, field trips to learn more about local stream environments and the annual conservation-themed poster contest are just a few of the great educational activities provided by conservation districts.

Representative Neuman has promoted conservation within his local community for many years and his recent support for all conservation districts in Alaska is greatly appreciated.
