WASILLA — Dawn and John Nelson celebrated their recent acquisition of the iconic vitamin and supplement shop All About Herbs with an open house event Saturday, May 21.
Visitors were treated with door prizes while browsing through the shop and mingling with the new owners.
“We’re feeling really good, really positive,” John said.
The original owners Dori and David Cranmore ran the shop for over 20 years.
John said they spent several years attempting to sell the business since they were looking to retire. He said that Dori and David built an amazing business and they feel honored to carry on the legacy since so many people in the community have come to know and rely on their services.
“It was a smooth transition,” John said. “This is an essential service right here and it’s a needed time.”
John said they’re excited to enter this new and exciting chapter of their lives. He said they were both born and raised in Alaska and recently moved back to Wasilla.
He said they received a lot of positive feedback from long-time customers and the general public, noting that a lot of people expressed how thankful they were for the doors staying open.
“Everybody in the community has been so receptive and supportive,” John said.
Dawn said that All About Herbs is known for carrying high quality products served by knowledgeable staff. She said there’s a myriad of products to choose from including locally sourced and proprietary items. She said that many people come here for natural and unique items that can’t be found anywhere else.
“It’s not broken. We’re not here to fix it,” Dawn said.
Looking forward, Dawn said they plan to add additional product lines and hold educational workshops and other community activities. She said they’re happily settling into their new role, and they’re ready to keep the doors open to a small business that’s been a big deal for so many people for so many years.
“We are looking forward to serving the community for a really long time,” Dawn said.
