WASILLA — The Northern Lights Valley Knitters donated 101 mittens, hats and scarves to Burchell High School students on Dec. 6. It was the first project of the 2-month-old guild.
The group gave the items to the school in four red tote bags during the Feast of St. Nicholas, which traditionally is the start of the gift-giving season, according to Rosemary Vavrin, charity projects coordinator of the new guild. The group’s next meeting is from 1 to 3 p.m., Dec. 17 at the Meridian Point Building conference room.
All knitters and those who want to learn to knit are invited to participate in this new group devoted to education and helping others. Guests are invited to bring a project to work on during the meeting.
