MAT-SU — The Mat-Su Borough School Board has unanimously selected Dr. Kenneth Burnley to be the next Superintendent of Mat-Su schools.
Burnley is a senior fellow at the University of Michigan. A contract has yet to be signed, but is expected soon.
Burnley has held the superintendent position at three school districts over a 24-four year period, according to a press release from the school district: Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, Colorado Springs School District 11 and Detroit Public Schools.
Meeting at Machetanz Elementary School on Saturday, district officials also interviewed four other candidates: Deborah Sue Akers of West Virginia; Deena M. Paramo, Mat-Su School District; Carolyn S. Ross of Fallon, Nev.; and Gregory E. Strong, president of Strong Enterprises Inc.
