Pollard to address Palmer chamber

Physical therapist Jacob Pollard with Algone Interventional Pain Clinic will be the featured speaker at the Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce meeting April 5. Pollard’s presentation is titled “Physical Therapy’s Role in Regenerative Medicine.” Networking time begins at 11:45 a.m. with the program beginning at noon. The program fee is $5; lunch is $15 or a soup and salad option is $8. The chamber meets at the Palmer Moose Lodge, 1136 S. Cobb St. For more information, call 745-2880.

Jagger to address Big Lake chamber

Simone Jagger, the state coordinator of Lemonade Day, a national program aimed at encouraging young entrepreneurs, will be the featured speaker at the Big Lake Chamber of Commerce April 3. The meeting starts at noon at Big Lake Family Restaurant, 3261 Big Lake Road. For more information, call the chamber at 892-6109.

Board of Realtors opens scholarship application process

The Valley Board of Realtors has announced that the application process is now open for its $1,000 scholarship for qualifying students pursuing a postsecondary education.

According to a press release from the group, “$1,000 may be awarded annually for tuition and fees to one or more qualified recipients. A selection committee will be appointed and approved by the Education Committee established by the Board of Directors of the Valley Board of Realtors. Monies awarded may be used for books, tuition, transportation, or living expenses by the recipient. Scholarships are not renewable; however, a recipient may reapply.”

To be eligible for consideration, students must meet the following requirements:

• A full-time student, as defined by the educational institution, and enrolled in a postsecondary

or trade/technical school for the Fall 2017 semester in an educational institution, or other

institution approved by the selection committee;

• Provide proof of enrollment at the time of acceptance for the fall semester;

• Must be a resident of the Mat-Su Borough

According to the group, applicants must submit a completed application as well as an official transcript of their most recent grades or a copy of the latest report card, providing that it shows the cumulative grade point average.

Applicants also must submit a resume noting such items as academic achievements, involvement in scholastic activities, extracurricular activities, leadership roles and community service involvement.

“A short narrative describing any current and/or future interest to pursue education/career in real estate, business management, mortgage lending, title and escrow, legal, or other related fields,” is required, according to the release.
