PALMER — A pair of Anchorage hikers reported missing in the Hatcher Pass area have been found safe.
Luke George, 28, and Dorothy Hopple, 29, were reported overdue to the Alaska State Troopers just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Helo 3 located the hikers after 2 p.m. Wednesday and is transporting them out, according to AST. Both are reported to be in good condition.
George and Hopple, hiking with their Bernese Mountain dog, started their trip Saturday, according to AST, and were expected to be out one or two nights.
An initial search party that included friends and family looked for the pair before the official report was made to AST.
The hikers’ blue Dodge pickup was located in the Archangel Road Trailhead parking lot.
Members of multiple agencies searched for George and Hopple. The list includes AST, Alaska State Parks, Alaska Mountain Rescue Group ,volunteers and Helo 3.
