A man is dead following a shooting in Wasilla late Tuesday night.
The Alaska State Troopers received a report at about 11:30 p.m. that Matthew Lundy, 40, of Wasilla, had been shot outside of an apartment near Wasilla, according to an online dispatch published Wednesday. Troopers and Wasilla Police Department responded to the scene, and according to troopers the investigation revealed that Matthew Sanchez, 35, held several people at gunpoint inside of the apartment, including Lundy.
According to the investigation, troopers say Sanchez shot Lundy, exited the apartment and was taken into custody by authorities. Lundy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sanchez was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial and is facing charges of first-degree murder, two counts of third-degree assault and misconduct involving weapons in the third degree.
