State Sen. Linda Menard reads the inscription on a plaque dedicated to the memory of her husband, Curtis D. Menard, Friday evening. He passed away in March after a lengthy battle with cancer and was the Mat-Su Borough mayor at the time. The plaque will be placed at the newly named Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla. The ice rink at the center is named for the couple’s son, Curtis C. Menard ll, who was killed in an airplane accident. About 20 people turned out for the dedication.
