PALMER — A toddler reported missing in the Butte area on Tuesday has died, according to the Alaska State Troopers.
AST received a report of a missing 17-month-old girl in the area of Sullivan Avenue near Palmer just after 8 p.m. Tuesday. About 30 to 45 minutes later, the child was found in Bodenburg Creek, troopers said. The child was reported missing by a family member, and neighbors and volunteers searched for the girl before troopers arrived. Butte Fire and Mat-Su Water Rescue also assisted in the search.
Troopers said life-saving measures were administered at the scene, and continued as the girl was transferred to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
The girl was pronounced dead, according to troopers, Wednesday morning after she was transferred by LifeMed to the Providence Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Anchorage.
Troopers said there is no evidence of foul play.
