PALMER — Two men and a juvenile, suspects in an armed robbery at the Valley Country Store in Palmer in August, have been arrested.
Authorities arrested Sephan Allen, Garrett Gantner and a juvenile after a joint investigation involving the Alaska State Troopers and Anchorage Police Department.
Troopers and the Palmer Police Department responded to the Valley Country Store just before 11 p.m. on Aug. 24 after a report of an armed robbery.
“Employees at the store reported two adult men in ski masks entered the store and pointed handguns at the front counter clerk demanding money,” troopers said in an online dispatch published Aug. 25. “Cash as well as other items were taken from the store.”
About an hour later, APD responded to Carrs in Eagle River after the report of another armed robbery. Just like the incident at the Valley Country Store, authorities were told two males wearing masks entered the store and demanded money from a clerk at a checkout stand. Money was also taken from the customer service desk, according to APD, as well as cigars from the locked tobacco case. The suspects fled on foot, APD said.
Allen,19, was located and arrested in Eagle River on Aug. 27. Gantner, 18, was taken into custody on Aug. 28. The juvenile turned himself in on Aug. 29.
Gantner has been charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree assault and third-degree theft in the Valley Country Store robbery.
Authorities also believe the trio may be involved in other armed robberies in the Anchorage and Mat-Su areas in recent weeks.
