Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Nicholas Alan Hill, 20, died Aug. 9, 2005, in Willow.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla, with Pastor Dennis Hotchkiss officiating. Flowers are welcome.
Burial will follow at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery with pallbearers Jesse Hill, Thomas Billy Squire, Shawn Surls, Devon Hyde and Abelardo Vazquez.
Mr. Hill was born Nov. 30, 1984, in Fargo, N. D.
At the age of 8, he moved with his family to Wasilla and graduated from Houston High School.
Mr. Hill worked for A-1 Roofing Co. in Wasilla and as a security guard for Proud Security Co. at the Bluegrass Festival in Talkeetna.
He enjoyed fishing, mountain climbing, swimming, four-wheeling and especially loved cooking.
He was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Wasilla.
His family wrote, "Nicholas will be remembered most for his caring heart and his love for family and friends. He had a passion for life beyond anyone's imagination.
"He had love for animals and loved to make children laugh. His friends and loved ones will always remember him for being the life of a party."
Mr. Hill's grandfather, Fred Hide, and grandmother, Gladys Thompson, preceded him in death.
Mr. Hill is survived by his mother, Debra Anderson of Wasilla; father, Eric Hill of Fargo, N.D.; brother, Jesse Hill; former long-term girlfriend, Stephanie Lieb, and friends, Issac Thomas and Shawn Surls, all of Wasilla.
He is also survived by his stepmothers, Theresa Surls and Nita Thomas; stepbrother, Seth Thomas; stepsister, Rachel Surls; stepnephew, Anthony Peck; uncles, Ralph Hick and Avelardo Vazquez and aunts, Irene English, Dorothy Weisar, Elaine Evinrude and Laura Vazquez.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
