Nine indicted by grand jury

for felony DUI

PALMER -Nine indictments for felony driving under the influence were handed up in Palmer Superior Court recently.

€ Alaska State Troopers, on July 5, received a report of a vehicle driving on a bike path near Mile 48 Parks Hwy. They arrested Don L. Anderson, 56, of Wasilla, in the incident and took him to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Anderson's indictment, dated Oct. 19, stated he was previously convicted for driving under the influence in California in October 2000 and in Palmer in August 2004. According to the indictment, Anderson was also driving while his license was canceled, suspended or revoked.

€ Debra Badger, 39, of Wasilla, was arrested Oct. 9, after troopers stopped her Saturn sedan for erratic driving at Mile 46 Parks Hwy., according to a report from troopers. She was arrested and taken to MSPTF, according to the report. According to the indictment, Badger was driving with a license that was canceled, suspended or revoked from previous convictions in the Palmer court on March 2000 and January 2005.

€ Jacob N. Henry, 24, of Wasilla, was picked up Oct. 10 by Wasilla police officer Cory Rupe. According to his indictment, Henry's license was suspended, canceled or revoked from two previous DUI convictions - one in June 2001 and one in January 2004.

€ Leland M. Huntsman II, 31, of Anchorage, was arrested by troopers June 12, after they received a report of a man driving a personal watercraft erratically before colliding with a boat dock on Big Lake, according to a trooper report. Huntsman was transported to Valley Hospital and treated for injuries before being arrested and taken to MSPTF, the report stated. According to the indictment, Huntsman was convicted of DUI in Anchorage court in August 2002 and June 2004.

€ James W. Jakoski, 52, of Willow, was picked up by troopers near Mile 47 Parks Hwy. on Oct. 9, according to a statement from the troopers. Troopers found Jakoski was DUI, driving with a revoked license and possessed marijuana. They arrested him and took him to MSPTF. According to his indictment and court records, Jakoski has DUI convictions from March 1996 in Anchorage and 1991 in Palmer.

€ Allen G. Lau, 51, was indicted on one count of felony DUI and one count of felony refusal to submit to a chemical test. According to the indictment, Lau was arrested by Palmer police officer Kelly Turney on July 17, for DUI. Lau was found to be in possession of a firearm and some marijuana, according to the indictment. His license was suspended, canceled or revoked from his previous convictions of DUI in January 1996 in Anchorage and in February 1997 in Palmer.

€ Kenneth M. Lien, 24, of Wasilla, was arrested Aug. 27, according to a trooper report. Troopers stopped Lien's vehicle for erratic driving near Mile 9 Palmer-Wasilla Hwy. According to the report, after he was told he was under arrest, Lien got in his Toyota Camry and tried to drive away before troopers arrested him and took him to MSPTF. According to his indictment, Lien is charged with two counts of felony DUI and one count of third-degree assault, among other charges. Lien was convicted of DUI in November 1999 in Palmer and in May 2002 in Anchorage.

€ John D. Parrott, 26, of Big Lake, was arrested by troopers Oct. 8 near the intersection of Big Lake Road and the Parks Highway, according to a trooper report. Parrott was pulled over for an equipment violation, discovered to be DUI and taken to MSPTF, according to the report. According to his indictment, Parrott was convicted of DUI in Georgia in February 1997 and in Palmer in September 2001.

€ Steven C. Walster, 35, of Palmer, was arrested by troopers for DUI on Oct. 7 after they received a report of a driver slumped over the steering wheel in the parking lot of Three Bears Grocery at the intersection of Trunk Road and Palmer-Wasilla Highway, according to a trooper report. According to his indictment, Walster was convicted of DUI in Anchorage in July 2002 and, according to court records, had other DUI convictions in 1999 and 2001.
