WASILLA — The Palmer Moose used a 3-1 win over the Colony Knights to win the Northern Lights Conference Championships volleyball tournament at Wasilla High School Saturday.
Senior Nicole Cherrier posted 13 kills and senior Brittany Arlow added 19 digs to lead the Moose to their second conference title in three years and third since 2003.
Senior Sierra Hodgson led the runner-up Knights with 14 kills. Colony was looking for its fifth conference title in six seasons.
Both Palmer and Colony will compete in the ASAA 4A state championships, which start Thursday at West Anchorage High School. Soldotna, which scored a 3-0 win over Kodiak in the third-place match, is also headed to the state tourney.
Host Wasilla was eliminated from tourney play Saturday morning with a consolation semifinal loss to Kodiak.
