PALMER — No charges have been filed thus far in a fatal car-versus-pedestrian collision along the Glenn Highway near the Alaska State Fairgrounds Tuesday.
Palmer Police say a 41-year-old Palmer woman was behind the wheel of a white 2002 Ford F150 when she struck and killed David Beard, 31, of Palmer.
The investigation began about 10 p.m., Oct. 14 after a Palmer police officer found Beard dead on the east side of the highway, according to Palmer Police Commander Lance Ketterling.
Investigators have released the name of the driver in the incident, but the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman is withholding the driver’s name pending charges.
The truck she was driving has been in police custody since Wednesday morning, Ketterling said.
Authorities say they don’t know where Beard was headed when the car struck him. His body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office, said Ketterling.
Investigation continues, he said.
