Talkeetna has a rock dike crumbling, the M/V Susitna remains a no-revenue, corporate welfare, boondoggle, money-loser, but Port Mac is what gets addressed by the Mat-Su Assembly!
Talkeetna — Mat-Su Borough’s No. 1 tourist destination, which generates revenue throughout the Mat-Su Borough — has a rock dike crumbling and a sewer lagoon leaking into salmon habitat, and we in Talkeetna are waiting on other people’s money to repair the dike and leaky sewer lagoon!
All the while the never-been-used, now damaged M/V Susitna is literally costing borough taxpayers millions, but goes unaddressed!
This is ignorance and no representation for Talkeetna by the Mat-Su Borough Assembly at work.
Mat-Su Assembly, you can only be fiscally irresponsible so long, and your whole borough corporate welfare scheme will come tumbling down.
You spend $160,000 for riprap at an empty port and squat for Talkeetna in the budget!
Mat-Su Assembly, you are endangering public safety and health in Talkeetna by ignoring the dike, sewer, and lack of code enforcement in a Federal Emergency Management Agenc-declared flood plain in Talkeetna.
