KNIK — A crash landing at a small airport left the pilot and sole occupant uninjured Sunday.
According to a press release from Alaska State Troopers, the crash landing was reported at 11:43 a.m. at Goose Bay Airport.
“Timothy Vaught, age 40, of Eagle River, was operating a single-engine Maule aircraft when he collided with the ground upon landing,” according to an AST press statement.
KTUU news reports based on a trooper spokeswoman that the four-seater plane was coming in for a landing when its landing gear failed. One of its struts broke and dug into the ground, tipping the plane forward and damaging its nose, propeller and wing.
FAA records show that Vaught is certified to fly airplanes and helicopters and his license is up to date.
