No regrets.

Four weeks left to go in the challenge. Every day and every pound counts as we wind down this challenge.

I spent some time discussing and reflecting on the past two months as I wrapped up a business meeting today. My visitors asked how the challenge has been going and as I discussed it with them, I realized how far I had come in a few short months.

As I’m writing this, a commercial for the lap band system is playing on television. Not too long ago I was seriously considering undergoing this procedure. I felt I had tried everything and that weight loss was beyond reach. I had given up.

This challenge has made we realize that I’m stronger than I had given myself credit for and that it is possible to overcome some of life’s greatest obstacles with the help and support from others and with some good old-fashioned determination.

Three people commented to me in the past two days that they could notice the weight loss. I am now to the point that I’m going to have to buy some new clothes. I suppose that’s good news and bad news; good for my health, but bad for my checking account.

I can easily pass by the now-famous snack table outside our business manager’s office. Several in our office joined in our internal Trim to Win program and have cursed that table as they have to pass by it several times a day. I noticed a great big container of cookies laid out there this morning. Others have developed their own form of motivating their co-workers with some severe peer pressure.

All-in-all, it’s been fun and I have no regrets for doing this. Many of my family members in the Lower 48 have been following our progress through the blogs. My mother is currently vacationing in Australia (Hi, Mom!) and has continued to follow the progress from there.

Even though it’s not always easy to update the blog or turn away from the chocolate (yes, the Belgian chocolates are STILL tucked safely away in the freezer), it has been worth the extra effort. I’ve enjoyed reading the other blogs and updates from others, too, and can’t wait to see how it all ends.
