Norman G. Aaenson (Storman Norman), 77, died Feb. 21, 2005, of natural causes, at his home in Palmer, with his daughter, Debbie, at his side.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Wasilla Christian Church, 2201 South Knik-Goose Bay Road, Mile 2.3, in Wasilla. Jason Winters will be officiating.
A celebration of life will be held in Grandville, N.D., on July 28, the day before our family reunion in Minot, N.D.
Mr. Aaenson was born April 30, 1927, in Riga, N.D. He has been an Alaska resident since the 1970s and, for the last few years, a snowbird.
Until his illness in June 2004, he made his home with his daughter, Debbie, and her family in Palmer. Mr. Aaenson was a former member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 23 and Local 66. He retired from the Sheet Metal Workers Union in 1993.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, turkey shoots and pool.
His family wrote, "He was quite the ladies's man on the dance floor and enjoyed NASCAR races, riding his trike and horses. Dad was a man of great curiosity and adventure. The path he chose was unpaved, unknown and not understood by most. Home was where he hung his hat. He has left those of us who love him with many great memories. He'll be greatly missed by all who knew him. We are grateful that he is now at peace and no longer suffering. The good times will be shared and remembered."
Mr. Aaenson was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin Aaenson, Harry Aaenson and Arnie Aaenson and by his sisters, Sena Sartwell, Millie Bergstad, Carol Hendrix and Delores Hanson.
He is survived by his son, Roger Aaenson; daughters and sons-in law, Lynn and Rod Grant, Cindy and Scott Dunn and Brenda Smith, all from the Seattle area.
He is also survived by his daughter, Debbie Brown; son in-law, Albert Brown; daughter, Norma Mjolsnes, and son in-law, Arne Mjolsnes, all from Mat-Su; his former wife and mother of his six children, Stella Wuest of Edmonds, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; brother, Nels Aaenson; sister in-law, Arlene Edward Aaenson; sister in-law, Dory, and sister, Annie Kingsley.
His ashes will be interred in Granville, N.D. in July. Arrangements were made by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
