NORTH POLE — The North Pole Patriots erased an early deficit, and rallied to edge Houston 52-50 in Mid-Alaska Conference boys basketball action at North Pole High School Saturday afternoon.
Houston led North Pole 21-17 after the first period, but the Patriots held the Hawks to just eight points in the second. In the second half, the Patriots found enough to hold on to the close win.
Zack Qual led the Hawks with 18 points in the loss.
Houston girls lose pair
FAIRBANKS — Monroe Catholic scored a 44-33 nonconference win over the Houston Hawks on Thursday.
Savanna James led the Hawks with 14 points.
On Friday, James posted seven points during a 57-14 loss to West Valley in Fairbanks.

Effie Kokrine sweeps Wasilla Lakes Christian
FAIRBANKS — The Effie Kokrine Warriors edged Wasilla Lake Christian 57-53 in boys basketball action in Fairbanks on Friday.
Josh Grisson and Taylor Roth scored 13 points each for the Wasilla Lake Christian.
Effie Kokrine beat the Wasilla Lake Christian girls 50-24. Abigail Finich led WLC with 11 points.
