WASILLA — Alex Schwochert was a top driver in a pair of events during North Star Speedway’s Saturday Night Thunder last week.
Schwochert won the mini-stocks event and finished second in the thunder stocks.
Mike Thomas (legends), Paul Landes (late models) and Tim Workman (bandoleros) also won events.
North Star Speedway is hosting a salute to Father’s Day Saturday at the Wasilla-area raceway.

Palmer driver earns first win of season
BUTTE — Palmer’s Skip Gosch earned his first win of the season when he beat Mike Mihalka, of Anchorage, in the top eliminator race at Alaska Raceway Park in the Butte last Saturday.
Gosch topped 115 mph to grab the win.
Anchorage’s Stacey Ashley topped Houston’s Art Normand to win the super eliminator.
Anchorage’s Karl Solberg (modified eliminator), Chugiak’s Carl Reimann (open air), Soldotna’s Mariah Ulen (junior dragster) and Anchorage’s Bob Lee (trophy) also won events.
The Butte drag strip will be busy this weekend with a test and tune scheduled for tonight, a car show on Saturday and he top dragster events slated for Sunday.

Racing continues on dirt track
WILLOW — David Spain was the king of the trucks on the dirt track last Saturday, winning his class during racing action at Capitol Speedway in Willow.
Dave Burke (mini-stock), Jeff Wallace (300 sprints), Jaryd Riggs (hobby stocks) and James White (stocks) also won events.
Racing continues this Saturday at 6 p.m. On Sunday at 2 p.m., Capitol is hosting a 100-lap stock race.
