Not much of an example today.

I was not good today. No, I didn’t pig-out on fast food, chocolate (yes, the box of Belgian Chocolate is still tucked safely away in the freezer) or ice cream.

I rushed out of the house this morning without eating breakfast. I did have my coffee (it would take a major disaster for me to forget my coffee), but somehow managed to space out eating breakfast.

I headed into Anchorage about 11:30 this morning and planned to stop in at Wendy’s and pick up a garden salad for lunch. I got tied up on a call on my cell phone and ended up driving right past Wendy’s and found myself in front of the office. Once inside, I got caught up in deadline issues and the next thing I knew, it was 4pm. I planned on leaving Anchorage around 4:30, so figured I could just wait until dinner now. Then a few more issues came up and the next thing I knew it was well past 6 and I was still sitting in Anchorage. By the time I got everything wrapped up, packed up and headed back to Anchorage, I knew I was going to miss my gym time, too.

I haven’t been to the gym in nearly two weeks now. As I’ve found out before, giving Brutal Bill this much time to think of new torture routines is never a good idea. I had every intention of going tonight. I carefully packed my gym bag this morning with my workout clothes, water bottle, etc. and put it into my car. It’s still there, waiting to be put to use. My day starts in Anchorage tomorrow, but ends with the afternoon in the Valley, so I promise I’ll make it the AT&T Sports Center tomorrow and face my destiny with Bill.

Even though I didn’t eat breakfast or lunch, I bypassed the fast-food joints on the trip home and ate a healthy dinner with a reasonable portion. I had whole wheat spaghetti topped with a sauce made from grilled chicken breast strips, cauliflower, broccoli and low-fat cream of mushroom soup. It was really tasty!

I hope you all had a much healthier day today than I did; I certainly didn’t set much of an example today!
