WASILLA — A man accused of kidnapping the same woman twice has been accused of trying to possess a deadly weapon behind bars.

Jordan King, 23, faces a single charge of promoting contraband in the first degree, according to court documents. The charge, which was filed May 23, covers either smuggling a weapon into jail or trying to make a weapon while in jail, according to the affidavit.

First-degree promotion of contraband is a Class C felony and carries a five-year prison sentence with a potential maximum fine of $50,000.

King first came to the attention of authorities when he allegedly broke into a house along Fairview Loop in December 2015, tried to rape the occupant, and then fled the scene, according to court documents. Troopers eventually arrested him after a high-speed chase that ended with his car in an embankment on Meadowood Drive in Big Lake, according to stories at the time.

In March, King allegedly kidnapped the same woman, assaulted her, then led her through the woods on a dog leash in an attempt to evade troopers, according to authorities.

The case file on the contraband charge contained only a copy of the indictment, and no further details.

King remained in the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer Thursday on $100,000 bail.
