November election candidate lists are final for assembly, school board seats

Candidate filings for Matansuka-Susitna Borough assembly and school board seats were finalized Monday, Sept. 12, following the Friday deadline on withdrawals from the races.

Two seats on the assembly are open, with Tim Hale and Stephanie Nowers as incumbents.

Hale, in Assembly District 1, has one opponent, Brian Endle. No biographical information on the candidates for the two open seats has been posted yet but Hale can be reached at timhaleforassembly@gmail.com while Endle can be contacted at EndleforAssembly@gmail.com.

Nowers has two opponents for her Assembly District 2 seat. They include Dana Raffaniello, who can be reached at raff6482@outlook.com, and Meghan Trupp, who can be reached at Meghan.trupp@outlook.com. Nowers can be reached at Stephanie.nowers@gmail.com.

The five other assembly members, Dee McKee; Ron Yundt, Mokie Tew, Jesse Sumner and Ron Bernier, are not having to run for reelection this year.

There are five seats open on the Matanuska-Susitna School Board.

School Board District 2 has two candidates: Ray Michaelson, who can be reached at raygmichaelson@gmail.com, and Kendal Kruse, who can be reached at kendalpike@gmail.com. Steve O’Brien had filed for the seat, but withdrew, as did Heather Riggelsen, who had also filed.

School Board District 3 has only one candidate Kathy McCollum. She can be reached at mccollumkath@gmail.com

School Board District 5 has three candidates: Shirley Akelkok, who can be reached at S. akelkok@gmail.com; Jacob Butcher, who can be reached at butchman172003@hotmail.com; and Kimmie Elrod, who can be reached at K.nicole.elrod@gmail.com.

School Board District 6 has one candidate, Ole Larson, the incumbent who now holds the seat. Larson can be reached at: Polarson@mtaonline.net.

School Board District 7 has two candidates: Ted Swanson, who can be reached at: tjswanson89@gmail.com, and Christiana Sitbon, who can be reached at: Christiana_sitbon@hotmail.com. Jessica Elliot had filed for the seat but withdrew.
