Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Alice Fitzgerald, 75, died at the home of her family in Wasilla, on Sept. 20, 2000.
A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 22, at First Presbyterian Church in Wasilla. Her ashes will be interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, Calif.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Keene, N.H. She began her Alaska residency in June 2000, when she moved from Springfield, Mass., to Wasilla to stay with her family during her illness.
Mrs. Fitzgerald spent most of her life as an antique dealer buying and selling antiques throughout New England. She loved making quilts, doing crafts and going to and having garage sales.
Her family said: "Alice was a devoted mother and grandmother."
Mrs. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her son, Richard Fitzgerald of Las Vegas; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Pat O'Hare and Susan and Eric Brinegar of Wasilla, and Patty and Michael Martin of Springfield, Mass.; grandchildren, Wendy, Amy, Jeremy and Dawn Martin of Belchertown, Mass., Meghan and Shane O'Hare and Bradley and Lindsey Brinegar of Wasilla; and great-grandchildren, Dustin, Summer and Aubrey.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory.
