Olympian says thanks

To the editor:

Thank you very Robert DeBerry and Andrew Wellner for putting my picture on the front page of the paper on Feb. 20. Thank you even more for writing such a cool story and for the big picture of me in Sunday’s paper. I am a lucky girl. I am lucky because I got to go to the World Games in Idaho. My family was there too and they cheered me on. Even more cool, were the tons of people from the Valley who wrote me cards, sent me emails, and called me to say, “Way to go, Pearl!” I have lots of people to thank. Thank you to all my teachers and friends who helped make me strong and said, “Good job!” Thank you to my bosses at work who gave me time off and hugged me when I came back (Geneva Woods , Mat-Su Christian School, McDonalds, and Non-Essentials). Thank you to KMBQ for letting me be on the radio. Thank you to all my friends at Mat-Su Special Olympics for making sports fun in the Valley. Thank you to the Special Olympics in Anchorage who helped me go to the World Games. I had great fun on my trip. You are all awesome, beautiful, and kind, and I love you guys!
