Palmer Police reports that during the early morning hours on September 2, one man was shot and killed after several people called 911 to report shots fired.
According to a press release from the PPD, just before 1:00 am, officers arrived at the Speedway Express Gas Station on Glacier View Avenue and found 22-year-old Steven Williams deceased with “apparent gunshot wounds.”
During the investigation, police identified 22-year-old Isaac Beshaw as a suspect after having found probable cause. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. Police believe the incident was isolated and that there is no further threat to the public.
Beshaw has been remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility in Palmer and is being held without bail per the bail schedule. Williams’ next of kin has been notified and his body has been taken to the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
In its statement, the PPD wished to express gratitude to the Alaska State Troopers and the Wasilla Police Department for their quick response and assistance with the investigation.
This is a developing story.
