One door closes, another opens on venue

OK, so I thought that I was going to get back to my music. I thought I had the tiger by the tail, as the saying goes. Business was booming, we were catching up — then came the upset.

Things weren’t so stable after all, and I had to look for a new place to run my music venue. They said, we didn’t fit in at the previous place of business. But the good news came so quickly after the bad I won’t even need a new paragraph to segue to our new business location just off of Lucas Drive. It’s a huge building with a large performance area and some other cool stuff as well. It’s a 5000-square-foot Quonset hut.

However, we will need a new paragraph to talk about the work that needs to be done to get this thing going — moving old cars from behind the building, painting, hanging drywall, cleaning carpet, decorating, staining concrete floors, installing a few doors, and the list goes on and on.

So, I won’t be focusing on my music just yet. Stop, reset.

I will be working through this summer, with the help of a lot of local musicians, revamping this new business location. It will be a thousand times better than the last. It will be large enough to accommodate more musicians.

I can’t say that I’m terribly happy with my former landlord, but I am very happy that the new venue will be bigger and better than the previous.

It seems like Make-a-Scene!, from the very beginning, has suffered a regular regimen of setbacks — even though for every setback we seem to grow. If it’s not one thing, it’s another, but these things seem to energize our supporters and push us to work that much harder to do just what the name implies.
