In my last blog entry, I talked about the beautiful weather and looking forward to the many outdoor activities this state has to offer; today it’s snowing. Only in Alaska.
With just a little more than a week to go in this challenge, I am so close to my target weight loss and the scale was more than stubborn and uncooperative this last week. I was so frustrated when I stepped on the scale this morning, but then I had to remind myself that it was a long and somewhat slow process putting the weight on, I shouldn’t expect the reverse process to be any different.
Regardless of what the scale says when I step on it on April 8th, I already know I’m healthier and there is less of me than there was on January 8th, so I’ll be happy with whatever the loss. Too often, it seems, I’ve let the scale dictate my mood. No more.
I’ve dropped 2 sizes in the nearly 3 months we’ve been on this challenge. I’m learning to take the advice of Brutal Bill by measuring my success in inches and weight, rather than weight alone. My stamina in the gym is improving, too. I no longer get winded after 10 or 15 minutes on the dreadmill, and the number of reps on the Nautilus circuit has more than doubled since I first set foot in the gym.
For those continuing on this journey to better health after the Trim to Win challenge ends, I hope you all learn to enjoy and celebrate all of the successes of better health and not just the number on the scale.
Remember to mark your calendar for the big finale party at the AT&T Sports Center on April 14th, beginning at 6:30 pm. We will be announcing the winners live! I hope to see you there.
