Open letter to the Palmer Post Office

To the editor:

I placed an order online and received a notice from Amazon on Oct. 26 of attempted delivery. I went to the post office three times that week, waiting in line for what seemed like forever. I was told one day a carrier had my package with him, but they would keep it for me and I should get a phone call. Another day I was told it had been sent to Anchorage for some unknown reason. I was told I should call the post office so I wouldn’t have to wait in line.

I brought reading material to have something productive to do while waiting in that long line, but I couldn’t help but notice some employees who were moving in slow motion. And what scowls they had! I thought about government employees who can’t get fired because of their seniority and maybe they were so pooched up because post offices might be closing down. Well, no wonder if this is how they run their operation.

I tried calling the number I found for the post office and it rang and rang until it cut itself off. No one from the post office ever called me.

The following week I had to work in Anchorage so didn’t have time to wait in line for hours to see where my parcel might be. I guess I’ll just call it a costly lesson and turn it loose. But I wonder where my package is?
