Out-of-fire-service-area? Nonsense

To the editor:

I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of the lodge at Hatcher Pass. Even more disturbing was the number of firefighters and rolling apparatus that responded and watched the structure burn without ever starting a pump.

I don’t want to hear about the out-of-fire-service-area nonsense. Firefighters, most that I know anyway, have it in their blood to push water and attempt to put out fires and not haul dry hoses and full water bays back to the station.

Guess it’s time to build my own fire truck.
