I was thrilled to read both your article and the editorial on the Palmer Arts Council and its plans for building in Palmer (Frontiersman, Jan. 15).
This is truly a dynamic organization with an exciting vision for this city, and I know this first-hand, as I have had the honor to serve on the board for this past year. It is a heady experience to be a part of this active group as it facilitates the arts so creatively and energetically in Palmer.
I also know first-hand that the actual purchase price of our “modest” parcel was $150,000, not the $350,000 that was reported in both your article and your editorial.
While we humbly accept your praise for our personal contributions to the cause, we felt it necessary to point out that our pockets are not quite so deep as all that, and we indeed are still welcoming contributions for this building project and many other projects both small and large to fulfill our vision of making Palmer a Mecca for the arts in Alaska.
Rose Hendrickson,
board member
