PALMER — It started with a search for a stolen snowmachine, but authorities from several agencies found so much more.

Jessica Krieger, 35, of Palmer, was arrested and charged with five counts of second degree theft after authorities uncovered a stock of stolen goods, according to a press release issued by the Alaska State Troopers Wednesday afternoon. AST’s Criminal Suppression Unit and the Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to Bodenburg Loop near Palmer in search of a stolen snowmachine.

“While recovering the stolen snowmachine, troopers located additional stolen property to include an ATV, five stolen firearms and 15 other firearms that are suspected to be stolen property,” troopers said in the release.

Troopers also arrested Trevor Bernard, a 28-year-old Anchorage man, at the scene. Bernard two warrants for misconduct involving weapons in the third degree.

Both were transported to Mat-Su Pretrial, and the investigation regarding the stolen items is ongoing.

“This case is an excellent example of the ongoing cooperation amongst law enforcement agencies to address property crime, particularly in the Mat-Su Valley,” AST Acting Director Major Andrew Greenstreet said in the release. “I look forward to seeing these partnerships continue, and the results that cross-agency engagement brings for the people of Alaska.”
