Wasilla's Todd Palin added another win to his list of Iron Dog championships when he and teammate Dusty Van Meter crossed the finish line in Fairbanks ahead of the pack Saturday to win the 2002 Iron Dog 2000.
The team of Palin and Van Meter teamed up to win the Iron Dog in 2000 with Palin also winning the event in 1995.
The team of Marc McKenna and Eric Quam finished just one minute, 33 seconds behind to take second place. McKenna and Quam led most of the race but experienced snowmachine problems that required repairs late in the race.
Defending champions Tracey Brassard and Ken Lee finished third, arriving 12:54 minutes after McKenna and Quam.
Palin and Van Meter received $25,000 in purse winnings for the race plus and additional $10,000 in contingency money from Arctic Cat.
