The Palmer Unit 15 American Legion Auxiliary held their second annual “Chair-ity” Art Chair Auction at Post 15 on Outer Springer on July 10 to benefit Kids Kupboard and local veterans programs.
Twenty-three local professional and amateur artists and craftspeople donated their time and talents to turning random chairs into pieces of functional art, for a silent auction event the evening before the annual Palmer Garden and Art Faire. In addition to the in-person auction, a Facebook live-bidding option was added this year to accommodate those who wished to bid on the chairs and still social distance. The event brought in just over $3,200.00, and a check for $1,600.00 was presented to Lynette Ortolano at Kids Kupboard. This money will help provide healthy meals to Valley kids who may not have access to traditional feeding sites. The remainder of the funds raised will be used to support various local veterans programs. Special thanks go to Palmer’s HDL Engineering Consultants for their printing support for the second year in a row, and to Kylie Greenstreet for her invaluable assistance in setting up the online bidding option. The auxiliary is planning a third annual event for next summer, and several artists have already committed. If you are interested in participating next year, contact Julie at alaak15@outlook.com.
