Palmer athlete wins women’s division, Wasilla woman 2nd

PALMER — Dozens of hearty athletes participated in the 11th annual Colony Christmas Triathlon in Palmer last Sunday.

Palmer’s Alisa Kincaid and Anchorage’s Jason Lamoreaux were the individual winners of an event which included a 10-kilometer bike ride, 5-K run and 500-meter swim in the Palmer Pool.

Kincaid won the women’s division, finishing with a total time of 50 minutes and 28 seconds. Kincaid finished about two minutes ahead of second-place Nylene Warner of Wasilla.

Wasilla’s Heather Hogge also posted a top-5 finish, placing fourth with a time of 1:02:55.

Lamoreaux used his total time of 44:48 to win the men’s division. Fellow Anchorage athlete Mick Bakker was the runner-up. Jeff Warner was the top Valley athlete to cross the finish line. The Wasilla man placed third with a time of 46:36.

The Novak-Quinn-Smith squad was the first of 20 teams to complete the triathlon. Team Lundt — which included Tim Lundt and daughter Morgan — finished second with a time of 49:04, just about two minutes behind the winners.

The event started at Peak Fitness in Palmer and sent competitors down the Palmer-Wasilla Highway to 49th State Street and back for the bike ride. The 10-K bike course continued on Hemmer Road and Arctic Avenue to the Palmer Pool.

During the 5-K run, the course sent participants in a loop from the Palmer Pool and back via Arctic Avenue, the Glenn Highway, the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and Hemmer Road.

The triathlon concluded with 10 laps in the Palmer Pool.
