PALMER — Mike Walsh, a longtime prosecutor with the district attorney’s office in Palmer, is among seven applicants for a seat on the Alaska Court of Appeals.
According to a press release from the Alaska Judicial Council, the list of applicants will be narrowed to two, from which Gov. Sean Parnell will choose the new judge. Walsh is a 23-year Alaska resident with 15 years experience as an attorney and a law degree from the University of Arizona. Also on the list:
• Susan M. Carney, a Harvard-educated supervisor of Fairbanks’ Office of Public Advocacy.
• Douglas Kossler, supervisor of Anchorage’s Office of Public Advocacy with 17 years as a lawyer.
• Douglas Owen Moody, a deputy public defender in Anchorage with 23 years experience.
• John N. Page III, an assistant public defender in Anchorage with 14 years practicing.
• A. Cristina Weidner Gafs, a private attorney in Anchorage with 12 years experience.
• Timothy W. Terrell, an assistant attorney general in Anchorage with 22 years practicing.
