PALMER — "The Vibrant History of the Baha'i Faith in Alaska" will be presented at 2 pm Sunday, June 25, at the Palmer Public Library.
Paul Rourke of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Alaska will present the power-point lecture.
Rourke and his wife Linda are both multi-media artists in Homer. He said that Valley residents are among the very first to see this new program in its entirety.
After the formal presentation, there will be a question-and-answer session. All Valley residents are invited to participate in this one-time event. There is no fee and donations will not be accepted.
The historical program will also include an explanation of the concept of Progressive Revelation which is also in other spiritual traditions. "Baha'is stress there is only one God," Rourke explained, "and in each era God sends a new Divine Manifestation to humanity. Baha'is are followers of Baha'u'llah, whose name in English means 'The Glory of God.' "
He continued, "Each Manifestation of God brings a Divine Revelation from God that becomes the basis of a new religion."
Rourke concluded, "Our purpose in life is to know and worship God and to serve and proclaim His Cause. It's a joyous spiritual journey."
This special afternoon event will also include an opportunity to meet some of the Valley Baha'is in an informal setting. The Palmer Baha'i Spiritual Assembly is hosting the event.
