ANCHORAGE — The Palmer Moose notched a third-place finish in the O'Brady's Invitational with a 74-66 win over Petersburg Saturday at South Anchorage High School.
The Moose used a 21-point fourth quarter to get past Petersburg and finish 2-1 in the three-day tournament. Sophomore James Blake and freshman Clayton Southwick each scored six points in the fourth quarter for the Moose.
Blake led Palmer with 18 points. Southwick added 17 and junior Chase Ferris chipped in 16.
Friday, host South rallied from an early deficit to get past Palmer 53-43 during the semifinals.
Sparked by balanced scoring, Palmer held a 16-14 first-quarter lead. Blake and Tye Ramoth each scored five points during the quarter, while Southwick chipped in four.
The Wolverines took the lead in the second quarter with an 18-11 run, and held the Moose to 16 second-half points.
The two teams combined for only 37 points during the final two quarters.
Blake scored 14 to lead the Moose. Southwick added a dozen.
