PALMER — The Palmer Moose used a 60-41 win over Roosevelt (California) to finish fifth in the 16-team Santa Barbara Holiday Classic in Santa Barbara, California, Thursday.

The Moose finished with three victories in the tournament, also beating a pair of California teams, Costa Mesa and Pioneer Valley, on the consolation side of the bracket.

The Moose opened with a close 57-56 overtime loss to Flintridge Prep (California).

Michael Kluting, who scored a team-high 30 points against Flintridge, was named all-tournament.

Wasilla scores a win over Oregon squad

The Wasilla boys notched a 61-57 win over Thurston High School in Springfield, Oregon, Saturday.

Kobe Brown led the Warriors with 18 points. Daniel Heddings chipped in 11, and Isaac Houck added nine.

The Warriors competed in the Oregon Holiday Hoopfest in nearby Bend, Oregon, last week.

The Wasilla girls finished 2-1 in the KSA Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament in Florida.

Wasilla beat Esperanza (California) 36-35 and Barberton (Ohio) 51-41 in the tournament, before suffering a 54-38 loss to Owasso (Oklahoma).
